I gave it four stars because it does an accurate job clarifying the standards that the PECT will have on the exam for me (I finished my MS in Teaching and Learning a year ago in Secondary Edu and am now trying to get my Prek-4 certification). But you'll need some additional outside resources.I just took all three exams yesterday and passed it. Without much background knowledge of the language arts, math, and science portion the test, I needed some help. I currently teach high school sociology and history, the sociology background helped me a lot with module 1 of the PECT. But without that background, I think this book and common sense will help you pass that section of the test. The book did give me a good starting point to prepare for module 2, but I had to do a lot of extra research with watching YouTube lectures and I also bought the practice test on the PECT website, which was a HUGE help. For module 3, this book didn't really help at all, nor did the practice test. I'd recommend looking over a praxis study guide to get used to math and science terminology. Good luck!

Did not prepare me for the exams.
I would rate this a 5 because it is filled with so much helpful information. I haven't taken the test yet to really see how I do but so far your book has helped me sort through key terms and concepts and determine which areas I need more instruction with.
This book is very helpful. I really like how the questions are broken down where there are explanations for understanding the questions stated in the book. I thank you for the help that was provided to help so that I would past the test.
I am rating this a 5 because the info is detailed & I love the practice tests.
I have a hard time studying because I am a visual person so I always write out the info to remember things.
The tests have made this process easier & lets me know where I still need improvement.

This book gives you lots of great information. I have it four stars because I think the book should be broken down by each module on the PECT exam. It does break it up in sections, but I think it would be easier to read and follow if it was separated by each module. I also think the test in the back should be separated by each module.
This book, while stocked full of helpful study information and review, is unnervingly complicated to read. There are no chapters and hardly any sections. There are just headlines over each paragraph, page after page after page of individual topics. There is absolutely no clear organization of information; as theorists jump to phonics, jumps to development, jumps to teaching practices. Explanations of theorists are redundant ("In the next stage, it is different than the last one which was..... (repeating all of the previous paragraph)") I would SO prefer lists and bullets than this redundant, poorly-edited paragraph style. I am MORE stressed out for my test using this book, but because there IS useful information, I have to stick it out considering that my test is four days away. I don't know who approved this for publishing, but I want to throw this book across the room constantly.

I must be crazy, most people on here are saying how helpful this book is, but it isn't at all. For the test, there are 3 modules, this is not broken down into modules, the information seems all over the place, and there is only 1 practice test, again, not broken down into modules. I do not recommend this book.
