Gone Rogue The Gunsmith Book 5 eBook CK Crigger

After a disastrous foul up in Boothenay's latest time-travel adventure, her long-time love, a traveler himself, has called their relationship quits. And, as if getting dumped isn't bad enough, she and her dog McDuff are inadvertently kidnapped, hijacked away to an alternate America that for all her extra abilities she never guessed existed. Boothenay soon finds herself embroiled in a strange mixture of family feud, political brouhaha and the fight over ownership of an immensely valuable energy source that powers everything from guns to airships in this world. But Boothenay's troubles aren't over yet.
After her last adventure, it didn't appear her family was terribly glad when she turned up. A lot of problems-oh, call them troubles-appeared in the wake of her last time-traveling fiasco. Too much for her family to keep handling. Yet duty calls. When Bivet recovers from his wounds, he takes her back through the veil. As a precaution, he says he'll wait one hour. If all is well, this is the end of everything.
Gone Rogue The Gunsmith Book 5 eBook CK Crigger
This is Crigger's fifth book about gunsmith Boothenay Irons. The previous four stories had her time-tripping into trouble. Always, it was related to an old gun. This story is a bit different. Instead of going to a different time, she is kidnapped to a steampunkish alternate America. (Not a spoiler, as that is almost the first thing you find out in the story.)There she finds herself in the middle of a bloody power struggle. If she wants to get back to her own world, she will have to help one side or the other. She had better choose right; her life depends on it. Lots of action, quite a bit of humor, and even a little romance: good book.

Gone Rogue The Gunsmith Book 5 eBook CK Crigger Reviews
Boothenay Irons is as unique and unusual as her name implies. She is a scrappy fighter, a first-class shot, and a total softy for her favorite four-legged friend. It is a little harder to get a bead on Kellen, although Boothenay seems to be cracking that hard shell in her own special way. This is a read with a whole new approach to time travel, and one I think is wonderfully entertaining.

In my review of "Six Shot" I said I would have a hard time starting this book for personal reasons, due to reading the preview. Well, it was easier, and in a way, less painful than I expected. And I'm glad I did read it. This book read like the end of the series, although I can imagine places it could go from here. If it is the last, it is a good, and satisfying ending. Very cool. I can identify with the boatload of men; courageous but spineless-when-it-comes-to-women with which Boothenay has to deal. Maybe she has found the one with the same do-or-die courage she has? It would be fun if Ms. Crigger wrote another of this series - with the next generation. )
Anyway, Ms. Crigger's writing style is always a delight, and the proofreading on this ebook hasn't been nearly as bad as the others in this series.
I would rate this PG - there is mild gore, people getting beat up and killed, and mild, infrequent language. I appreciate that Ms Crigger leaves some of the worst details to the level of the Reader's imagination.
Of this, "The Gunsmith Seroes," I'm not sure which was my favorite - the first one, or this one, but I think "Gone Rogue" is my favorite.
I recommend this book!
